Thirty Day Challenge – Day Twenty-One – Scarsick

In case most of you haven’t heard: snow storm in Southern Ontario!

While I went to work this morning, I was let off in the afternoon as the weather continued to get worse. What a blessing!

I was able to finish unpacking everything in my new place, as well as focus a lot more time with writing. Even better, I’ve caught up on a few other things, making my stress levels plummet. Bonus!

Writing today was a lot of fun. I mean a LOT of fun. Knowing I’ll still have to go back and “fill out” the scenes with imagery and details on location, I for some reason, spent today doing so. As I mentioned yesterday, I went back and changed the scene I wrote. It wasn’t too bad.

I also came up with something clever for a name of something (I’m being purposefully vague). I have to talk it over with a pastor friend of mine to get it all sorted out/use his knowledge about the name. It’s just interesting, is all!

Scarsick

Today, I busted out Pain of Salvation’s concept album “Scarsick.” It’s a pretty emotional thrill ride, but also made for great back up music. I did find myself, however, zoning in and out from writing just so I could listen to some of the crafty lyrics and instrumentation.

Until tomorrow!

Thirty Day Challenge – Day Twenty – Apocalyptica

Only ten more days to go!

I didn’t spend a lot of time on the story as I wish I could have tonight. This upcoming weekend has shaped itself up to be unusually busy. Fortunately, I will have time Saturday and Sunday night (ideally) to really crack-down on writing a lot.

I was able to start the next scene alright, but due to time constraints, I really didn’t feel like it got off to the right start. I’ll probably restart it again tomorrow when I have a wee bit more time.

Apocalyptica

I listened to Apocalyptica’s self-titled album today. I hadn’t listened to it in awhile. Given I listened to their album “Reflections” not too long ago, I figured I should keep the trend going.

Until tomorrow, folks!

Thirty Day Challenge – Day Nineteen – The Whirlwind

I blitzed through writing what I had worked on yesterday, officially letting me finish the scene I had started before I moved.

Heavy subject, indeed. However, I’m glad that portion of the story is over because things are really starting to build up in terms of action. I’m at the “calm before the storm” with the plot. I’m really eager to get to all of the excitement the next little bit of the story will be providing. I do think that I’ll get to it at the time my thirty day challenge is over.

But that doesn’t mean I’ll stop writing!

I’ll explain more about what I’m doing after my thirty day challenge when I get closer to the end. Hey! That’s only eleven days away!

The Whirlwind

Speaking of calms before storms, I listened to Transatlantic’s album, “The Whirlwind.” Given the songs subject matter about religion and faith, I’m surprised I hadn’t listened to this sooner when writing about those specific topics in my story. The song is just over and hour long, and I always end up having it loop. It’s a really cool progressive rock song with Neal Morse (ex-Spock’s Beard, Flying Colors), Mike Portnoy (ex-Dream Theater, Flying Colors), Pete Trewavas (Marillion), & Roine Stolt (The Flower Kings).

Until tomorrow, friends!
