Thirty Day Challenge – Day Fifteen – Drama

I’m halfway there!

I spent a lot of time today packing, so I was a bit tired when getting to writing. I’ve also packed up all of my physical writing notes. I’m just going off of notes I have on my computer.

I spent a bit more time on yesterdays scene today, but I also jumped back into editing as I was a bit drained to actually create. It’s unfortunate, but I still have fifteen more days to go!

Drama

I listened to Yes’ “Drama” album today. It’s all sorts of good. Yes is easily one of those bands that puts me in a good mood immediately.

Until tomorrow!

Thirty Day Challenge – Day Fourteen – Storm Corrosion

Wow!

I definitely surprised myself. I didn’t think I was going to write as much as I did today. It all came naturally, too.

It was very dialogue-heavy. Ah, who am I kidding? So far a lot of my story is dialogue-heavy. The details are going to be added in later. Anyway, it really helped explain a lot of the characters history together, plus answered a few questions begging to be addressed.

While I am still not done the scene, once again, I added more to the story I hadn’t thought of until I began writing. While it’s nothing too drastic, it’s enough to add that little bit of flare to the story and make it that much more in-depth. I’m really excited with how well it’s turning out.

I still have a LONG way to go – not just for the thirty day challenge, but with completing the story as a whole. That’s not including the major edits.

Yeesh!

Storm Corrosion

I really enjoyed Storm Corrosions self-titled debut album. It’s not nearly as mean sounding as the album cover suggests. It’s more atmospheric rock music. It’s a really, really, really, incredible album. I know it got a lot of slack because people found it too “pompous.” You know what though? I think it’s awesome.

Until tomorrow!

Thirty Day Challenge – Day Thirteen – Second Life Syndrome

There was definitely a bit of a lull when it came to writing today.

I have a lot on my plate this upcoming week which is more deserving of my attention (such as finding out that I’m moving in less than two weeks), so I’m a bit caught up there.

That being said, there was a lot of brainstorming today more than actual writing. I know that earlier parts of my story are lacking in details – both physical attributes for characters and also for scenes. Not to mention technology and what-not. While it’s not vital for my book, to get the reader truly engulfed into the story, I obviously have to make it interesting and believable.

“But Derek, didn’t you say you’ve planned all this out already?”

Why yes, Derek, I have. It was all fleshed out earlier on before I even started writing. But as for implementation, that was supposed to come naturally with the writing. As I’ve seemingly skipped most of it, I found myself drawing attention to it rather than progressing the story.

Who knows what tomorrow will bring?!

Second Life Syndrome

I listened to Riverside’s “Second Life Syndrome” as it’s all sorts of exciting.

Until tomorrow!

Thirty Day Challenge – Day Twelve – Rated R

You know how I was all concerned about writing dialogue for my characters in yesterdays post?

I got started on writing it today, and wow, did it turn out easy! I didn’t know what to expect when I started writing it as I knew it was just going to be a challenge. But I just started writing and it just became clear to me. I don’t know how I got to be so lucky tonight – especially since I’m on like, zero hours of sleep, but it worked!

I am really looking forward to writing the rest of this scene. While I don’t think I’ll be finished it this weekend, I do know that it will be really fulfilling when its done. Why? Because this scene is one of the major scenes in my novel where things really begin to unravel for the characters. While sure, it’s mostly dialogue, it really sets the reader up for the rest of the story, plus answers some nagging questions the reader would have had early on. Not to mention, it will also pose new questions!

I gotta keep the reader interested!

Rated R

Queens of the Stone Age’s album, “Rated R” is a favourite of mine because it’s really all-over the place. It also has some incredible songs. “In the Fade” is what made me really love QotSA, so if you can, give it a listen to!

Ah, shucks. Here it is anyway:

Until tomorrow!
